Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato have long been rumored to be not-always-friendly rivals, but Miley is reaching out now to defend her former Disney stablemate. Cyrus, who has gotten more than her fair share of grief from Internet haters, lashed out at snarky bloggers who have been haranguing Lovato over her weight. “@ddlovato AMEN! I will destroy any one that ever calls you the F word. You have the SEXIIIESTTTT curvyyyy body! I LOVE IT! #werkthosecurves.” Miley Tweeted in defense of the singer.
Lovato has become outspoken about eating disorders after her breakdown and trip to rehab and recently revealed that she was tortured by bulimia. Lovato said she always gained weight easily and would often vomit five times a day after eating to keep her weight down. “At the worst it was a little more than [five times a day],” Lovato, 19, told Access Hollywood. “I was just so sick. I thought that orange juice was going to make me fat,” she said. At times, she would become so depressed, she also would resort to cutting herself to relieve her anxiety, she added.
Demi, who completed a three-month stint in rehab in January 2011, has recently gained 30 pounds, but has said she is healthier and happier than ever. She looked radiant at the Latin Grammy Awards. (Check out her photos).
Miley may also have been expressing her frustration over recent snarking that she also looks like she’s packing on some extra pounds. Boyfriend Liam Hemsworth talked recently how he loved watching Miley down a thick steak sandwich and drool sauce down her chin. Was he being sarcastic?
Mily was spotted recently at a Trader Joe’s grocery store stocking up on so-called junk food, although the store sells mostly healthy, organic products. Miley used to make fun of Lovato and Selena Gomez in YouTube videos with BFF Mandy Jiroux, when Miley ruled the Disney roost with her show, “Hannah Montana,” back in 2008. The Miley-Demi feud erupted again in 2009 around the time Lovato broke up with Miley’s brother Trace.
Lovato credits Kim Kardashian and Selena Gomez with helping her through recovery from bulimia and self-mutilation, and has never mentioned Miley when she talks about her recovery. In August, Lovato went on a Twitter rant against “Hollywood brats”, and some thought she might be referring to Cyrus. “Real friends don’t encourage you to do drugs,” Lovato Tweeted.
“Not afraid to write a tell-all book and share my side of every story. Had enough of all these rumors, hollywood brats and shady hanger-oners.”Perhaps not coincidentally, Demi un-followed Cyrus on Twitter the same day. Demi erased the Tweets and added Cyrus back not long afterward. Is Miley trying to patch things up now?
