Love her or hate her Miley Cyrus uses her celeb power to help fight against some of America’s biggest issues and this year the singer took to Twitter to voice her opinion on everything from gay rights to eating disorders and most recently, cyber bullying. Last week Cyrus asked Twitter to ban other users she noticed were cyber bullying some of her followers.

“I’m so sorry @mrssosbourne and @MissKellyO for the abusive tweet from @Drealaloca I don’t think it’s right for people to use twitter to abuse and harass others. Just cause your hidden behind some computer like a coward doesn’t mean this isn’t bullying,” she tweeted.
Her tweets continued, ” So @twitter if you could please start removing people like@Drealaloca to help #STOPCYBERBULLYING It shouldn’t be tolerated!”After her stand against cyber bullying via the social network many fans of Cyrus reached out to her. Cyrus responded,” So proud of all the my fans responding to my last tweet!!You guys will make a difference! Take a stand! Let’s trend #STOPCYBERBULLYING“
No word on if Twitter ended up banning the cyber bully Cyrus directed them to but this isn’t the first time the singer has tried to reach out to her fans on important issues. When the former Disney star was criticized for putting on some extra weight this year Cyrus defended her looks.
“By calling girls like me fat this is what you’re doing to other people. I love myself,” she tweeted. She then posted a photo of an extremely malnourished woman and said, “I LOVE being shaped like a WOMAN & trust me ladies your man won’t mind either.”Her boyfriend sexy Aussie Liam Hemsworth dished on his girlfriend’s sexiness in an interview around the same time the gossip mags were talking.
“There is this place in Nashville called Steak and Shake, which is pretty much the best food, ever. That is our secret, sexy place to go,” the actor said. “When I look over at her when she’s biting into a steak sandwich and there is some steak sauce dripping down her chin, there is nothing sexier than that.”
Over the summer Cyrus had to defend gay rights after she tweeted a photo of her new tattoo, a small equal sign on the side of her ring finger representing gay rights and equality. With the photo of the tattoo she said, “All LOVE is equal.”The response from her fans was surprisingly negative and Cyrus quickly defended her reasoning for the tattoo.
Cyrus responded with “where does it say in the bible to judge others? Oh right. It doesn’t. GOD is the only judge honey. ‘GOD is love.’”Do you think Miley is a positively using her fame and Twitter to strike back against naysayers and social issues?
