The nominations are in for the Teen Choice Awards and unsurprisingly, Twilight leads the pack. The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, has a total of 17 nominations, with 11 of those going to heartthrob Taylor Lautner, who plays werewolf Jacob Black. Miley Cyrus has the most Teen Choice nominations - 13, a tie with the hit TV series, Glee.
The awards celebrate the year's hottest teen icons in film, television, music, sports and fashion. Lautner is nominated for Best Male Movie Star alongside his co-star in Twilight, Robert Pattinson, Zac Efron in Charlie St Cloud, Adam Sandler in Grown Ups and Jaden Smith in The Karate Kid.
Best Female Movie star will be battled out by Cameron Diaz in Knight and Day, Selena Gomez in Ramona and Beezus, Angelina Jolie in Salt, Emma Roberts in Twelve and Kristen Stewart in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. Winners receive surfboards in categories including Choice TV Villain, Choice Movie Rockstar Moment, Choice Red Carpet Icon, Choice Music Hookup and Choice Action Sports Athlete.
The awards, which will take place on August 9, will be hosted by singer Katy Perry. The 25-year-old California Gurl star has gone from chic to geek in the promo photographs for the event, sporting librarian-style glasses. Presenters at the awards include Khloe, Kim and Kourtney Kardashian, David Archuleta, Kristen Bell, Miranda Cosgrove and Zac Efron.
The nominees for Choice Summer Song are Lady Gaga's Alejandro, B.o.B with Hayley Williams' Airplanes, Travie McCoy with Bruno Mars' Billionaire, Katy Perry with Snoop Dogg's California Gurls and Kesha's Your Love Is My Drug. Choice Male Summer Music Star nominees include Justin Bieber, B.o.B, Taio Cruz, Drake and Eminem, while the same female category includes Miley Cyrus, Kesha, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, and Katy Perry herself.
Regarding her co-nominee, 17-year-old Miley Cyrus, Katy posted a comment on her Twitter account on Friday night, denying she had made disparaging comments about the Can't Be Tamed singer. Katy tweeted: 'Rumor control: I never said s bout my girl Miley. I love that ho. Mags should stop pitting girls against each other. We all can co-exist!'
The tweet comes in response to Life and Style magazine stating that somebody had overheard Perry disparage Cyrus at Canada's Much Music Awards (which Cyrus co-hosted). 'She's Britney Spears all over again. It's happening right before our eyes,' the source claimed Perry said. 'No, she's definitely headed the Britney route. It's worse. Look at those outfits. It's bad.'
